ELDERSPERSPECTIVES OF AGEING 27 JUL - 4 SEPT 2019

Embracing, honouring and celebrating what it is to be an older Australian.
This exhibition features paintings, works on paper, artist books, photographs, films, textile works and leather sculpture by 18 Queensland artists.
The exhibition theme is 'to celebrate our elders and help shift our views on ageing and age-related barriers that prevent community participation'. This exhibition aims to promote positive perceptions of ageing and challenge people to rethink stereotypes. It also provides opportunities for communities to share their stories and embrace changed attitudes towards ageing.
Exhibiting artists: Len Bytheway, Nicole Crosswell, Ana Paula Estrada, Jacqui Faulkner, Therese Flynn-Clarke, Colleen Gardener, Margaret Goldsmith, Gail Hewton, Peter Law, Angus MacDiarmid, Cal MacKinnon, Ian Milton, Gary Moloney, the late Geoffrey Stocks, Jenny Stuart, Heather Wehl, Teenie Wilton-Long and Jacques van der Merwe.

The exhibition also features a local story project of shared stories. This project brings together community members to gather and capture their stories. This public program will also include reflections of family members as they share their views of their elders.
The Elders touring exhibition is presented by Scenic Rim Regional Council and funded by the Queensland Government's Advancing Queensland: Age-Friendly Community Grants Program Round 2 and delivered by Council as part of the Age-Friendly Scenic Rim: Active, Healthy and Creative Communities project.
