The last year of Chopin's life told in Chopin's Last Tour

Set 12 months before his death, Chopin's Last Tour adds a note of humanity to some of the composer's best-known works.

This one-hour show that has captivated audiences at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the Newcastle Fringe Festival, stars Phillip Aughey in his own stage play to be performed for one night only at The Boonah Cultural Centre.

While Frederic Chopin is now considered one of the greatest classical composers of all time, his work was not always appreciated during his lifetime.

Key events and the people who influenced his compositions are told through the music of Chopin's Last Tour.

Chopin's love for his homeland resonates in the majestic Etude No. 12, Opus 10, Revolutionary, his response to the Russian invasion of Warsaw in November, 1831, a year after he had left Poland for Paris at the age of 20.

His passionate feelings for family members who remained in Poland after his departure are captured in Nocturne No 20 in C Sharp Minor, which Chopin dedicated to an older sister, Ludwika.

Similarly, Chopin's affection for the French novelist George Sand is reflected in his 1838 Prelude in E Minor, composed on the warm Mediterranean island of Majorca where the couple and her children had escaped a bitter winter in Paris.
