Workshop covers every aspect of creating a children's picture book. For anyone who has ever been inspired to create a children's picture book, this workshop covers everything. Presented in association with the Off The Page exhibition at The Centre Beaudesert, this one-day workshop with award-winning author/illustrator Stephen Axelsen outlines how to create a children’s picture book in 115 easy steps in less than a day. Stephen will guide participants - whether budding authors or illustrators - through every facet of the creative process from putting pen to paper to seeing their published work on the shelves of their favourite bookshop. He will guide participants through the process of asking themselves what makes their story stand out, who the story is aimed at and why it might interest children. His advice to budding authors is to consider their readership and whether they want their story to be read by children or by an adult to children. The workshop will also explore the structure of a story, the style of illustration and how the book might be published. Aspects of illustrating a children's book will also be covered and workshop participants will receive advice about where to send their finished work. INCLUDED IN THIS WORKSHOP:
